Cascade Township, Michigan, Aug. 12, 2021 – Cascade Township is inviting classic car lovers and community members of all ages to its annual Cascade Metro Cruise Warm-Up, which returns after being canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s event will take place 4:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 in the parking lot at Fowling Warehouse Grand Rapids, 6797 Cascade Road SE. This all-ages event will feature activities that will entertain car enthusiasts and children alike, including face painting, balloon sculpting, music by The Soul Syndicate and scores of classic show cars.
Attendees can also fuel up on a variety of dinner meals and desserts from local food trucks, including Patty Matters, The Grilled Greek, O’Hana Ice and Mexcellente. While event admission, activities and music are free, there are costs for the food.
“We are beyond excited to return this year and gather with the community to listen to great music, grab a bite to eat and, of course, admire dozens of classic cars,” Cascade Township Economic Development Director Sandra Korhorn said. “The Cascade Metro Cruise Warm-Up is a wonderful way for residents of all ages to get outdoors, have fun and connect with neighbors.”
The Metro Cruise Warm-Up will feature a silent auction that will benefit the Kent County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. The Kent County Sheriff’s Office will auction off two ride-alongs with the K-9 Unit. Each ride-along will consist of a six-hour patrol shift that will give participants the opportunity to see the role of law enforcement from a unique perspective. Participants must be 18 years or older and pass a criminal background check. The K-9 Unit will also perform a live demonstration at 7 p.m.
The Cascade Metro Cruise Warm-Up leads into the 28th Street Metro Cruise, West Michigan’s premiere auto cruise and car show set for Friday, Aug. 27 through Saturday, Aug. 28.
