CASCADE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION MEETING

June 27, 2002

7:30 a.m.

Cascade Township Offices Conference Room

All members were present except Claude Robinson

Lon Swartzentruber, Donor Relations Director for the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, was introduced as guest speaker.

Michael Julien commented the members each have varying degrees of philantrophic experience and we need to bring us all to the same level.

Lon presented his power point presentation stressing the need to create a flexible endowment, the Michigan tax credit advantage, and that donors should be able to recommend where their money goes.

Sandi Parrish feels we need to find the best vehicle for marketing and perhaps show the power point presentation at meetings. We need to build a relationship with annual donors.

Lon said this Board should disclose in print how money is spent and give examples of previous gifts. A written agreement with the donor should be established.

Jack Lewis had the opportunity to visit the Ludington Foundation.

The next meeting is scheduled for July 11, 2002. Sandi Parrish will present the program.

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 a.m.
