Summer

Summer taxes are mailed on July 1, payable without interest or penalties until September 14.

Cascade Charter Township is authorized to collect property taxes for three school districts; Forest Hills Public Schools, Caledonia Community Schools and Lowell Area Schools. According to your school district, half of the operating and debt millages plus 100% of the millage for Kent Intermediate School District, Kent County operation, Grand Rapids Community College and State Education are collected on the summer (July 1) bill.

Winter

Winter taxes are mailed on December 1, payable without penalties until February 14.

According to your school district, half of the operating and debt millages plus 100% of the millage for the Township, the Kent District Library, and Kent County jail and senior millages are collected on the winter (December 1) bill. The winter bill may also include Kent County Drain assessments, hydrant and/or light district assessments, delinquent water and sewer assessments and delinquent usage bills.

When a property has a Principal Residence exemption (PRE), i.e. there is no tax collected for any school operating expenses, that line item will read $.00. At the top of the bill, there will also be an indication of PRE/QUALIFIED AGRICULTURAL EXEMPTION AMOUNT. The taxable value will be stated with the percent of PRE following in parenthesis, (i.e. 40,608 (100%)).

Deferments

Qualified taxpayers who filed a Summer Deferment form with the Treasurer’s Office are reminded to file their State of Michigan property tax credit return as soon as possible in January. The tax credit check should be used to pay their property taxes. The due date for property taxes is February 14. After February 14, real property payments are due to the Kent County Treasurer's Office. Please phone 616/632-7500 for payment instructions.

Payments By Credit Card

Cascade Charter Township does not require payment by credit card. This is offered as an option to the payer.

Please note - Taxpayers making a payment by phone using this system will be charged a convenience fee based on the amount of their transaction. The fee is paid to Official Payment Corp. The Township does not receive any fee. Cascade Charter Township does not require payment by credit card. Credit card payments may not be made at Township offices. This is offered as an option to the taxpayer. Credit card payments are accepted during regular tax collection periods, i.e. July through September 14, 5:00 p.m. for the summer taxes, December through February 14, 5:00 p.m. for the winter taxes. When interest and penalty begins, payment by credit card is not possible. (Please check your tax bill for additional information).
