Kent County Road Commission - Weight Restriction Notice
On Monday, February 19th, 2018 at 6:00 a.m., the Kent County Road Commission, Barry County Road Commission, Montcalm County Road Commission, Muskegon County Road Commission, Ionia County Road Commission, Allegan County Road Commission, City of Kentwood and City of Walker will enforce the springtime weight and speed restrictions.
During Weight Restrictions, normal legal loads must be reduced by approximately 35% and
truck vehicle speeds reduced to 35 mph.
As you are aware, the pothole season has started. Given the current conditions of the roadways and the amount of precipitation we have received it has the potential to be a rough season. Crews will be patching continuously when weather and conditions warrant If you observe potholes that need patching, please give us a call.
Be aware that we can only use cold patch material that is a temporary repair and may require multiple repairs to the same pothole until hot asphalt is available. Also beware that cold patch will not repair shallow potholes. Unfortunately, we will have to have to endure these areas until weather allows a more permanent fix.
On long stretches of deteriorated roadway, we are placing rough road signs to help alert the motorists. These areas will be addressed with permanent repairs when conditions and resources allow.
Thank you for your continued support If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to
call your local road commission complex or the main office.
